Harvest doesn’t give second chances. Grain comes out of the field when it’s ready. How you manage it from there can make or break both quality and margins. Choosing the right dryer for your operation may matter as much as choosing the right hybrid.
That’s why GSI built the Dryer Decision Tool. It cuts through the options to easily see which system matches your acres, your storage and your way of working at harvest.
One of those options is TopDry, a bin dryer that combines high-capacity drying with in-bin storage.
A different way to dry
TopDry doesn’t look like a conventional dryer because it isn’t. Instead of running multiple passes through a standalone system, TopDry dries a shallow layer of grain at the top of the bin, then moves it into the bin below for cooling and storage. Practically no heat is wasted, which means faster drying, less fuel and more consistent quality, all without adding another structure to your site.
For farms that require both drying power and storage capacity in a single footprint, it’s an efficient solution.
Flexibility at harvest speed
TopDry gives you two operating modes. Batch mode dries a layer at a time before storing it. AutoFlow runs in continuous staged mode, moving grain through as fast as you can bring it in. Both reclaim heat and airflow, which cuts fuel costs and keeps grain from overdrying. That design enables TopDry to keep pace with high-volume harvests, drying thousands of bushels per hour, depending on the configuration. The right choice depends on how you like to work/operate when the combines are rolling.
Smarter control
Drying isn’t just about airflow and heat — it’s about control. TopDry terminal offers touchscreen management and remote monitoring and control through WatchDog, allowing you to check temperatures, fans and grain movement from your phone or tablet. The Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based terminal features built-in diagnostics. So you can quickly troubleshoot airflow, heat, or mechanical issues without downtime. A Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) chute system smooths operation and reduces wear over time. If hands-off automation and labor savings are high priorities, those features matter.
Room to grow
Models are available in 24-, 30- and 36-foot diameters, with storage ranging from about 20,000 to 32,000 bushels. In drying mode, some setups can move up to 2,100 bushels per hour (5 point removal), with larger AutoFlow systems handling the equivalent of 35,000–40,000 bushels a day.
Find the right fit for your operation
For many growers, TopDry balances speed, efficiency and storage. But every farm is different. The best dryer for you depends on acres, grain flow and how much control you want during harvest. That’s why the Dryer Decision Tool exists — to give you a clearer path forward. Run the numbers; weigh the trade-offs, and see if TopDry or another GSI dryer delivers the best return for your operation.
